5 Fashion movies you can't miss


In the history of cinema there are several movies an it-girl cannot miss. Today, from Balletinas we have compiled some of the most emblematic ones that are totally worth watching. Movies that left a mark in the cinema and in the fashion industry.

UNZIPPED (1995)

A documentary shot by Douglas Keeve and that shows us in a marvellous way the Autumn 1994 collection of Isaac Mizrahi. In the documentary the most famous top models from the 90’s like Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford or Naomi Campbell make an appearance.

FUNNY FACE (1957)

A must watch movie for fashion lovers; it’s known as the last great musical of Hollywood’s Golden Era. Tells the story of a famous photographer from a well-known fashion magazine that’s looking for a new model, that is completely different to the rest. By coincidence, he drops by a little book shop in New York where he discovers a young worker with all the qualities he’s looking for: the worker is no one else than the amazing Audrey Hepburn.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (2006)

This film is inspired by the real story of Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of the American Vogue. A dramatic comedy that has become of the main fashion films of the 21st Century. In the movie Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, is the iron lady of the magazine Runway, always with the help of Andy Sachs, a role played by Anne Hathaway.

COCO BEFORE CHANEL (2009)

A biopic movie about Coco Chanel, played by French actress Audrey Tautou. The film tells the story of the many years of learning of the fashion designer. A great piece that shows how someone coming from a very low background that learned everything about the fashion world by herself can end up being an icon of success and freedom. The perfect representation of the modern woman.

VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR (2009)

American director Matt Tyrnauer tells the story surrounding Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani. The movie focuses on his last year of work for the brand, before he retired. This time’s most iconic moment was his last show, a show that will no doubt be remembered for a long time in the fashion history. The designer was born in a middle-class family and managed to climb to the highest peak in the fashion industry, becoming an acclaimed designer all over the world, maybe one of the most influential ones of the 20th Century.
